About The Owner/CEO

Mary LaShonda Webber, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, employment law expert, and published author of “Miracles Still Happen…Trust Me”, is CEO and Owner of L & R Human Resource Consulting, LLC (L & R). L&R is an organizational development, and employee relations consulting firm, that helps companies and leaders transform workplace culture. L & R is also known for its role in the community to educate individuals about specific laws pertaining to discriminatory practices in the workplace and state of Louisiana. Mary is known as the “HR Equalizer” as she advocates in facilitating the “marriage” between the employee and employer to help protect against discrimination of any kind.   

Mary has 30+ combined years in Business and Human Resources, with 16 years specifically focused on progressive Human Resource leadership. She is a graduate of Louisiana State University-Shreveport earning her BA degree in Liberal Arts and Criminal Justice, an MBA degree from Colorado Technical University and an Employment Law Degree from the Shepard Broad School of Law. Mary will complete her doctoral degree from Capella University in Organizational Leadership & Development by next Spring, 2025. 

Mary is a nationally recognized thought leader and legal expert in her field. She has impacted numerous organizations and individuals with her YOU Matter Horn initiative. Known as a master Employee Relations professional, she has broad knowledge and extensive experience in working with senior leadership teams to drive organizational change and transformation. Mary has aided in the filing of numerous EEOC, Civil and Human Rights complaints pertaining to discriminatory practices.  She has also impacted a vast number of communities and workplaces with her “YOU” (Your Own Uniqueness) principles, which promotes fair and healthy work environments for all.  

Mary has provided consultation to many local and national organizations and institutions including Mott Community College in Flint Michigan, Louisiana State University – Shreveport, Northwestern State University, Barksdale Air Force Base/Global Strike Command, Geaux Drip IV Bar, David Raines Community Health Center, The Arc of Caddo-Bossier, and more. 

Mary has been an Adjunct Instructor for LSU-Shreveport and Bossier Parish Community College and remains the only approved SHRM Instructor and distributor in Northwest Louisiana for the National SHRM certification preparatory exam. Mary serves on many community boards and a member of several organizations (i.e., NW La United Way, Bossier Chamber of Commerce, Shreveport Job Corp Community Development Council, former NW La SHRM Workforce Development Director, and the current Youth Services Director for Downtown Shreveport Rotary). Her personal mission is to enlighten every individual to be the best version of themselves through her YOU Matter principles. This mission is so dear to Mary that her license plate even reads YOU Matter to touch all those within visual reach of her car. 

Mary loves God, family and adores spending time with her husband, grandchildren and two adult children.  Her desire to remain unmatched in her field of HR and Employment Law is unmatched with her continuous learning and sharing of knowledge.  If you are in Mary’s circle of acquaintances, you know that you have a loyal “friend for life”.
